Addams Family Values Walkthrought

Addams Family Values

Let’s start where everything truly comes alive—the mansion. In Addams Family Values on the SNES (yep, that Addams Family Values), Uncle Fester’s adventure doesn’t baby you: from the very first rooms you’re free to poke around corridors and sniff out secret passages. Check the portraits first—one hides a lever that opens a quick shortcut to the cellar. Watch for slightly darker floor tiles; they’re pressure plates, and a few slide to reveal a niche with health or a key. Thing popping out of boxes isn’t just for creepy ambiance—it nudges you when you’re butting your head against a dead end. Keep a mental map: progress here is about memory and awareness, not sprinting in a straight line.

The Mansion and the Garden Maze

From the central hall, head into the garden. Out back is a living hedge maze. The classic “hug the right wall” works, but it’s slow. Faster is reading the gargoyle statues: the correct ones have candles flickering at their base—a cue for a good turn. Grab bottles as you go—they’re clutch for bosses, where you won’t have time to play cautiously. Doors with a skull emblem open with matching keys; the first skull key is in a fountain dead end, tucked behind a bush that “gives” a bit when you lean into it. Don’t hesitate to backtrack: just past the first major fork, a slight left leads to a shortcut into the garden’s center, saving tons of looping later.

At the heart of the maze, you’ll find a gate to the graveyard. If it’s locked, you missed a lever in the gazebo: it’s neatly hidden in the floor and looks like a normal tile. You can only press it after both torches in the gazebo are extinguished—shoot them with Fester, then step on the plate. Simple, but easy to overlook.

The Graveyard and the Family Crypt

The graveyard greets you with tight paths and zombies bursting from the ground. Don’t burn all your ammo on them—they’re infinite. Move from lamp to lamp; the paths between the light posts mark the “correct” thread. Detour into mausoleums with shut doors—one holds a silver key, another hides a lift into the crypt. The lift only powers on if you open the coffins in the right order. Hint’s on the side marble slab: the number of cracks lines up with each position. Open the wrong one and the lights go out while ghosts swarm in; just step out and back in to reset the puzzle.

Down in the crypt comes the first real attention check. There’s a room with “singing” floor tiles—step on them in the same order as the chimes you hear when entering. One chamber has illusory walls; the torches give it away—the flame by a real wall flickers weaker. Eventually you’ll drop into the boss arena: a round hall ringed with sarcophagi, and a grotesque brute that keeps crawling out of the center. Don’t camp mid-floor—kite around the rim, strike after its long crawl-out animation, before the next projectile volley starts. The hidden chest won’t pop right away—clear all the adds it summons or the reward hatch won’t even click.

Underground Passages Beneath the Mansion

Head back into the house via the graveyard’s side entrance—it unlocks a first-floor door that was “held” by an emblem. Below is a web of corridors with levers. Don’t yank everything at once. The correct sequence is telegraphed by the torches in the hall with columns: left to right, “lit — unlit — lit — lit.” Pull the lever beneath each lit torch to reconfigure the grate layout in the halls. In one room, the floor drops into a drainage chute—this is your shortcut back to the garden, perfect for later loops. You’ll also snag a gold key for the northern gate.

The Swamp and the Stilt House

Beyond the northern gate lies a bog. Reeds hide tiny islets, and tussocks sink if you linger more than a second. Move in hops across the lightest patches—they hold a bit longer. At the fork with the dead willow, go right to the stilt house. Inside is a chest with a blueprint—a rough “map” of the swamp. X marks a few bonus detours, but more importantly it shows the only viable route to the far bridge. On a big round clearing with a totem there’s an invisible wall; walk Fester along the northern arc until you hear a click to reveal a short slit leading to the boardwalk. On the way, a miniboss swims just under the surface—you’ll hear the gurgling. Retreat to a dry platform, wait for it to breach, then tag it between laps; don’t chase in the muck.

Across the bridge is a watchtower. Inside is a room with a clock and three gears. Set the hands to “13:00”—yes, that works here—by smacking the right gear to the first click, the left gear twice, then lock it with the center. A staircase opens to a lower hall with the key item for the next segment and another skull key.

Back to the House and the Northern Gardens

With a fresh key, Addams Family Values opens up even more: from the garden, climb to the northern terraces. Two set pieces matter. First, the chessboard tiles—you need to move like a knight, following the pattern shown on the stained glass to the left. Miss a step and the guardian statues reset you to the very bottom. Second, a funhouse mirror room. Easy tell: whichever reflection blinks out of sync marks a fake wall. Break through, grab the key, and power up the elevator to the roof.

There’s another boss on the rooftop. The plan is classic Addams Family Values: don’t tunnel on damage racing—play your angles. Chimneys cover you from straight shots, and the vulnerability window is right after the boss freezes post–triple volley. Dump a combo then. After the win, a staircase collapses back into the house, shaving the path to the final doors.

The Final Stretch (No Spoilers)

Before the mansion’s last doors, double-check your inventory: every skull key, the gold key for the north, and the tower item from the swamp—without it, the final hall won’t activate. In the corridor with the black-and-white floor, let the candles guide you: where the flame bends, there’s a passage in the wall. The last puzzle room has four levers and inscriptions on slabs. Family members already hinted at the order: “east — west — north — south.” If you forgot, swing by the library—there’s a tome on the shelf that whispers the sequence when you approach. Only then head for the finale. For the faithful, spoiler-free: the last arena is fair but demanding. Bring max health, and don’t ignore safe corners—they’re worth their weight in gold.

That’s Addams Family Values in a nutshell—step by step through the hedge maze, family crypt, and swamp, juggling keys, levers, and secret doors. Want more on the characters and references?
